Orchestra Rules & Regulations:
Concert Dress Code:
Unless symphony members are advised otherwise, the standard concert dress code will be
expected for each concert.  Males wear long-sleeved white shirts, black trousers, black
bow ties and black shoes.  Females wear long black skirts, black dress slacks or black 
palazzo pants and white blouses.

Attendance at Rehearsals & Concerts:
Orchestra members need to arrive 15 minutes prior to rehearsals so instruments can be              unpacked and tuned.  Be ready to rehearse promptly at the appointed time.  Bring music            folders at all ties.  All rehearsals are mandatory.  Any unexcused absences will result in a           review of the member's status in the orchestra.

Membership fee:
A $200 per year membership fee is requested of each participant in the Youth Symphony.           Limited scholarships are available.

What Instruments are played at AYS?.
Violins,Violas, Cellos, Double Bass, Clarinets, Oboes, Bassoons, Flutes, Baritone, French Horns, Percussion, Trumpets, Harps and other symphonic instruments.  There are presently openings in the string, woodwind, brass and percussion sections.

Where does AYS rehearse?
AYS rehearses from  6:30-8:30 PM every Monday at DeWitt Theatre located at 11596 D. Ave. in Auburn, CA. (DeWitt Center).  Rehearsals begin 6:30 PM, Monday Sept. 17th and continue through May 7, 2007.

What is the Profile of an AYS musician?
A successful member will be able to read and play music with a group and be faithfully committed to investing time and energy to growing musically.  Dedication is more important than perfection.
What is needed for an audition?
1. Play one favorite selection which best represents the skill level of the musician.
2. "Sight read" one selection provided by the Conductor.
3. Play one or two scales of Conductor's choice.
